Ike Turner Jr., son of legendary singer Tina Turner, was arrested on Saturday, May 6, 2023, on charges of possession of drugs (crack, cocaine and methamphetamine) and tampering with evidence. The famous musician, who won a Grammy Award in 2007, was sentenced to prison just 18 days before the tragic death of the “Queen of Rock & Roll” aged 83, at her Swiss home on May 24.

The incident took place in Alvin, Texas, when local police stopped 64-year-old Ike Jr. at a traffic light. Officers, during the ensuing search, seized 1.7 grams of cocaine, crack and methamphetamine from Ike Jr.

Officer QT Arendell of the Alvin Police Department revealed: “He tried to consume the drugs before the police could confiscate them». Ike Jr.’s partner, Jessica Salinas-Esquivel, is also facing drug possession charges (methamphetamines), the report confirms.

While Ike Jr. had once worked as Tina Turner’s sound engineer after her split from violent Ike Turner, their professional partnership was short-lived. Ike Jr. he claimed that his father reacted strongly to him working with his mother and was even violent at one point, threatening him with a .45 pistol. In 2018, he revealed to the Daily Mail that he had been on speaking terms with his mother for over a decade.

His father was addicted to cocaine, and the police had arrested him several times for drugs. One of the most infamous incidents involved the shooting of a 49-year-old man in the leg, leaving him wounded on the lawn of his Inglewood home in 1981. Eventually, Ike Sr. served 18 months in prison for possession of cocaine. He died in 2007 of a drug overdose at the age of 76.

More recently, Ike Jr. he joined The Love Thang Band with singer Sweet Randi Love. Additionally, he released the single ‘Yes to Life’ just last year. But his career aspirations have been put on hold as he has been held in the Brazoria County Jail for the past month, unable to post $70,000 bail, according to jail records.
