The mayor of Piraeus, Yiannis Moralis, in his greeting at the opening held on Monday, June 19, at the building of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, in Pasalimani, said among other things: “The Book Fair, held every year in Pasalimani, is one of the largest and from the most important exhibitions in Greece. The cooperation of the municipal authority with the Association of Booksellers and Publishers of Piraeus has always been exemplary, continuous and lasting”.
Mr. Moralis did not fail to mention the special point where the exhibition is organized, as he pointed out: “The choice between the stands with the thousands of titles of various books is also combined with a beautiful walk in Pasalimani, not only for the people of Piraeus but also for the visitors to the city. It is the first exhibition that takes place after the operation of the metro, and I believe that it will contribute to the increase of visitors”.
Speaking about the value of the book, especially for the new generation, the mayor of Piraeus noted that “as a municipal authority and each one individually we must promote the book to the new generation, support it and convince the new generation to read printed books as well on paper” and invited Piraeus and non-citizens to visit the exhibition.
It is noted that the exhibition is organized by the Association of Booksellers and Publishers of Piraeus, is under the auspices of the Municipality of Piraeus and the Region of Attica, with the kind sponsorship of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, in collaboration with the DELTA Rescue Team.
