The Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) approved the awarding of the Tiradentes Medal to Neymar Jr. In a single discussion, this Thursday (22), the project by deputy Anderson Moraes (PL) was approved and will grant the honor, which is considered the highest given by the Fluminense parliament, to the PSG player. The information was confirmed by Alerj’s own website.
In the justification for the project, Neymar was highlighted for his career in football and also for the social initiatives of the Instituto Neymar, which serves thousands of children.
“He is an undeniably recognized sportsman, who, due to his work and talent, became one of the greatest soccer players in the world and in history, an inspiration for thousands of children and sports enthusiasts in the state of Rio de Janeiro, whether for his talent, as well as for his joy, irreverence, as well as an example of victory as a sportsman and citizen”, comments Moraes, to the Alerj website.
The honor was granted exactly one day after the star confessed to having cheated on his girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi, in a public letter on social networks. This Thursday, Neymar’s father, Neymar da Silva Santos, was arrested for disrespecting the secretary of the Environment of Mangaratiba, Shayenne Barreto, while checking reports of irregular construction.
