The Australian actress awarded with two Oscars, Cate Blanchettand the Iranian-French protagonist, Zahra Amir Ebrahimiare set to attend the closing ceremony of the Locarno Film Festival for the screening of Iranian-Australian director Noora Niasari’s debut film Shayda.

Blanchett has taken on the role of executive producer on the drama, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Audience Award.

It stars the award winner at Cannes for her role in the film “Holy Spider”Zahra Amir Ebrahimi, portraying the role of a brave Iranian mother victim of domestic violence in 90s Australia who demands a free life on her own terms, away from the shadow of her abusive husband.

According to Variety, before the screening of the film in Locarno’s central square, Piazza Grande, Blanchett will moderate a discussion in the presence of Ebrahimi and the director on the topic of “Iranian women and cinema.”

The full program for the 76th Locarno Film Festival, which runs from August 2 to 12, will be announced on July 5.
