Six years after referring to Ludmila as “poor monkey” during an edition of the Balanço Geral (Record) program in the Federal District, presenter Marcão do Povo was convicted of the crime of racism. The sentence, granted on Thursday (22), took the singer to Twitter.
In the publication, she celebrates the court’s decision and says: “Now it’s up to SBT to decide whether to keep a racist in the house.” Silvio Santos’ broadcaster has employed the journalist since 2017, when Record fired him after the episode.
“In the midst of so much tragedy, finally some good news, Brazil! I cried so much when the news came out that I had lost this process and today finally this racist is paying, not as much as he should, for humiliating me and doing what so many Brazilians suffer on a daily basis on the skin, literally. Today you will have to swallow the tears of joy that you cried on that program when the decree came out that you had won the first stage of the process”, she posted.
After the artist’s action was filed, the 3rd Criminal Court of Brasilia acquitted the presenter in 2021. In the new trial, the judges determined a sentence of one year and four months in prison. However, detention was replaced by a penalty restricting rights, which will be decided by the criminal execution court.
The punishment also includes compensation to Ludmilla, provision of community services and payment of amounts to social institutions.
Marcão do Povo was contacted by the F5but did not respond.
