Actor and businessman Luciano Szafir, 53, was tested positive for Covid-19 for the third time. The information was confirmed to F5 by the artist’s press office, who says he is doing well after contracting the virus again.
“He is asymptomatic and doing well,” the team says. The second time he contracted the Covid virus, in June 2021, the actor was hospitalized for more than a month and suffered complications such as a pulmonary embolism, an emergency bowel surgery and bleeding in the place of a colostomy, necessary due to the intestinal problem.
He lost 15 pounds at the time, and stated that he was afraid of dying. “I can’t describe how close I thought I would leave”, he said at the time, in an interview with Fantástico (Globo). “I’ve always been very careful. Where did I get it, how? I don’t know,” he said.
He discovered that he was infected for the second time on the day that vaccination for his age group had started, in Rio de Janeiro. “Intubating was the worst thing in my life,” he said in the interview. “There are two fights: against the virus and against the head”, he reported about the period of hospitalization.
The first infection occurred in 2020. However, at the time, he did not need to be hospitalized. Recently, on his Instagram profile, he mourned the death of Valentina Boscardin, who passed away at the age of 18 due to complications from Covid-19.
“I can’t imagine a stronger pain for a human being than burying a child. Marcia Boscardin and Flávio Mendes, nothing I say will ease the pain you are feeling now. I just want you to know that you are not alone”, he wrote.
