The screenwriter of the film “The Truman Show” revealed how the story would continue if a TV series was made. In the 1998 film, actor Jim Carrey played Truman Burbank, a man who realizes that his life is being filmed by thousands of hidden cameras and broadcast 24 hours a day live to the entire world.

Jim Carrey won his first Golden Globe for his performance in the film.

Speaking to Screen Rant as part of the comedy-drama’s 25th anniversary celebrations, screenwriter Andrew Nichol spoke about his proposal to continue the story in TV form.

There has been talk of a musical – believe it or not – or a series,” he explained. “When it’s a different art form, I don’t think it takes anything away from the original. In my version of a series, I thought it would be fun if after Truman walked in the sky, the audience screamed for morehe added.

“I imagine there would be a multi-channel network broadcasting the life of a show-born star. If I set it in New York, it would be a girl on the Upper East Side, a boy from Harlem, a kid from Chinatown. Since they are all on their own channel and moving in their own circles, they are never meant to meet. But at the end of the first season, the boy from Harlem and the rich girl find that they are attracted to each other,” he noted.
