The fad of three-hour concerts, a trend popularized by bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead but also adopted by pop stars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, Sir Paul recently complained McCartney, one of the founding members of the legendary Beatles.

Specifically, during an on-stage discussion with TV host and comedian Conan O’Brien at the Tribeca Film Festival, he joked: “I blame Bruce Springsteen.”

“I told him. “It’s your fault!” added the former member of the legendary Beatles.

“He ruined it for everyone!” added the comedian, who recorded the conversation for his “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast.

“He did it!” McCartney said. “We used to show up for half an hour. That’s how it was with the Beatles – and we got paid for it. I tried to understand: “Why was it so short?” Well, because there were many artists involved,” he explained.

Bruce Springsteen, at 73, gives concerts that can last almost four hours, a length that would have been completely unthinkable when the Beatles were rock stars.
