THE exclusion student with autism from his participation as standard-bearer in student parade on October 28after modifying the result of the lottery, is a clear indication that the inclusion in education remains a demand, according to an announcement by SYRIZA-PS.

The party of Koumoundourou points out that such “individual incidents” stem from racist perceptions about dexterity and the tendency to hide it disabilitycontributing to the perpetuation of social stigma.

At the same time, he warns that if the exclusion is not revoked immediately, the leadership of the Ministry of Education will demonstrate a lack of sensitivity to ensure a truly inclusive school environment.

In the same announcement, SYRIZA-PS complains that the Mitsotakis government confirms daily the abandonment of special education and parallel support, but also of public school as a whole.

Reference is also made to the punitive evaluations with political criteria, the lack of lifelong training of teachers, the absence of psychologists and social workers from schools, as well as the continuous incidents of discrimination that see the light of day.

SYRIZA-PS finally points out that in a modern state, the school must teach acceptance and inclusion, ensure equal participation in learning and respect for the rights of all children, underlining that the struggle to achieve these goals continues together with the disability movement.
