• Elektra, directed by Lillys Meleme at the Papagou Garden Theatre

THE “Electra” by Sophocles, directed by Lillys Melemé and with Lena Papaligoura in the title role, begins a summer tour throughout Greece and tonight makes its first stop at the Papagou Garden Theater. A universe drowning in corruption and injustice. An anti-heroic world where everything has been turned upside down and the order of things has been dangerously disrupted. In this world, Elektra chooses to be the only cell of living consciousness that will not cease to denounce immorality and hypocrisy in perpetuity. Her voice is a brave and dynamic act of active resistance that constantly disturbs and incessantly reminds of the need to redress the horrible injustice.
