Robert De Niro loses his grandson two months after announcing the birth of their seventh child

After almost two months since the announcement of the birth of his seventh child, actor Robert De Niro, 79, faces tragic news: the loss of his grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, aged 19.

It was the young man’s own mother, Drena, who made this information public through a post on social networks.

“My beautiful sweet angel. I loved you beyond words from the moment I felt you in my belly. I wish I was with you now. You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish only love could save you. I’m so sorry my baby,” wrote the eldest daughter of the Hollywood star.

The cause of death was not disclosed. In May, two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro corrected a journalist who suggested he had six children and thus announced he was a father again.

“Seven, actually. I just had a baby,” the actor told ET Canada, without revealing the child’s gender or mother’s identity.

The actor has two children with his first wife, actress Diahnne Abbott, and two more with socialite Grace Hightower, from whom he separated in 2018. De Niro also had twin children with model Toukie Smith, with whom he had a relationship at the end of the 1980s and early 1990s.
