• The Republic of Baklava by Anesti Aza at the National Theatre

After successive sell-outs in Greece and abroad – among others in Sarajevo (MESS International Theater Festival – Best Actor Award to Giorgos Katsis), in Skopje (MOT Festival) and in Zurich (Kurtheater Baden) – the surreal comedy by Anestis Azas , “Republic of Baklava” returns as part of the Athens Festival. An unexpectedly hilarious theatrical pseudo-documentary, which, although inspired by the historical events of 1821, is set in our modern, digitally interconnected world, exploring issues of identity and political organization through the filter of today. The dramatized allegory “Mysterio 93 Xyliki Post Scriptum”, with Ioanna Pappa, Alkis Panagiotidis and Andreas Mandas, accompanied by live, original music by the British bassist, composer and producer, Jah Wobble and Tian, ​​is presented in the Parking of the Old Olive Oil Elefsina. The three actors recite the original text, specially written for the performance, with a symbolic speech, which is inspired by the Archetypes and finds its inspiration in ancient but also modern symbols, touching on universal and timeless themes, such as the pain of loss, alienation, the loneliness, the redemption of the dream. As if they are conducting a séance in the present, sending with their narration the thread of history at the same time to the past and the future.
