THE Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef divorcing after six years of marriage, but they still have “love and respect for one another.”

The 51-year-old Puerto Rican singer and the 38-year-old Syrian-Swedish artist shared their new split in a joint statement to People magazine on Thursday and promised to remain friends and take care of their children together.

“We decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we experienced as a couple during all these wonderful years.”

“Our greatest desire now is to continue to have a healthy family and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue raising our children together, maintaining the respect and love we have for each other.”

The two have one together 4-year-old daughter, Lucia and one 3-year-old son, Renn while Martin had adopted two other twin boys, Matteo and Valentinobefore meeting Yosef.

Ricky and Jwan they met through Instagramin 2015. They chatted online for seven months, and that’s when Martin traveled to London to meet Yosef in person.

The following year his successful singer Livin’ La Vida Locaannounced on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” that the two men were engaged.

“I saw the art he did and I went crazy because I really like it. It was really original. And I contacted him,” Ricky told Ellen shortly after his engagement and two years later, in 2018, they married in secret.

In December of the same year, they adopted a girl and a boy, while Ricky had his two sons in 2008 through a surrogate and at that time he announced it and emphasized that the process is faster and simpler for a single father.

This Ricky Martin divorce follows a difficult period for him, as it has been preceded by complaints from his nephewDennis Yadiel Sanchez, that the two were in a relationship and that the singer became violent and stalking after it ended.

Martin, of course, denied the accusations as he described his nephew as “trouble”, with lots of it Psychological problems.

A Puerto Rican judge denied restraining orders against Ricky Martin at Sanchez’s request later that month.

After his release, the singer spoke to the media and said: “To the person who claimed this nonsense, I wish him the best, and I hope he finds the help so that he can start a new life full of love and truth and joy so that he doesn’t harm no one else.”

Last November, Ricky filed $20 million lawsuit against his nephew, claiming he has been “persecuted, besieged, harassed, stalked and blackmailed” by the 21-year-old, whom he calls a “misfit,” according to TMZ.
