Xuxa and Marlene Mattos reunited after 19 years in “Xuxa, O Documentário”, which premieres next Thursday (13), on Globoplay. One of the excerpts from this conversation will be shown by Fantástico (Globo), this Sunday night (9). The presenter and the businesswoman worked together for over 18 years and broke the partnership in 2002.
The instability between the two personalities began even before the end of the contract between them. Behind the scenes of the programs, Marlene was considered a rude person. In 2002, however, during a recording of “Planeta Xuxa”, after an observation considered rude by the businesswoman, Xuxa Meneghel pinned Marlene: “Do your job and I’ll do mine”. From then on, the ex-partner disappeared from the life of the queen of the little ones.
In 2015, the presenter revealed that the breakup happened because she was tired of being “controlled” by Marlene, in an interview with Record. Three years later, Xuxa said that she felt “robbed, used and that she acquired debts” at the height of her success as a presenter, in a new statement to the magazine “Caras” in Argentina. Even with the statement, Marlene did not refute the statements and even said, in 2020, to Quem magazine, that she wished “the best” for the blonde.
In January 2021, Xuxa returned to talk about the former businesswoman, stating that she felt like a “puppet” of her. For this statement, Marlene registered an occurrence against the presenter for slander. There is no information about the end of this process.
