Before fame, when she only had one song of her own in her repertoire, Anitta traveled in an irregular van, went hungry, was booed and hitched a ride on a truck in her first performance in São Paulo.

Anitta had been hired to sing at a dance in the capital and the difficulties began before the trip, when she and her mother realized that the driver did not know how to drive the van and “trained” a little before the trip.
“It took us practically 12 hours to arrive in São Paulo”, she said. In addition, the driver made a mistake when entering São Paulo, which led the group to arrive at the ball in the middle of the night, to the irritation of the public.
The dressing room, according to her, was precarious and had cockroaches. At the dance, the cd with her only song “I’m going to stay”, was scratched and the presentation failed in all attempts.
The singer said that, at that time, she was very ashamed to speak to the public and memorized sentences – and was embarrassed by the failure of the presentation.
“People started booing me,” he recalled. “Sorry guys, now go DJ”, she said. The glitch happened several times, much to her embarrassment.
Anitta said that, in addition to the boos, the public threw objects on the stage and she ended the presentation.
On the way back to Irajá, a neighborhood in the north of Rio, the perrengue continued. The van was stopped by the Federal Police and was detained. Reason: the vehicle and the driver did not have the necessary documentation.
There was nothing to eat, the phone signal didn’t work and Anitta’s mother, Miriam Macedo, felt sick. Everyone was without sleep, rest or shower.
“She left Rio at the age of 50 and was already 70. Only now, when I got rich, did she go back to 60”, joked the singer.
Desperate, Anitta thought the solution was to go to the side of the highway and hitchhike. And that’s what she did: she and her mother drove home in a truck, leaving the other passengers in the van behind.
All this for a fee of BRL 300, concluded the now international millionaire artist.
