He made headlines three years ago when he revealed his plans to shoot the first film in space. And Tom Cruise he remained committed to making them happen.

“We’re working feverishly on it and we’ll see where we get,” he said at the premiere of the film “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” in New York.

The upcoming film has a budget of $200 million and is backed by Universal, but a production start date has not yet been set, Tom Cruise explained.

In 2020, NASA confirmed that the famous actor was working on a plan to shoot a movie in space, aboard the International Space Station. It will reportedly get help from Elon Musk’s Space X.

If greenlit, the production will be the first action adventure film to be shot in space.

“We are thrilled to be working with Tom Cruise on a film on the International Space Station,” NASA’s Jim Bridenstine said on Twitter. “We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.”

The director will be 57-year-old Doug Liman, who worked with the actor in the film “The Edge of Tomorrow”.
