A 9-month-old baby died in Florida, USA as his 17-year-old mother is accused of giving him fentanyl instead of milk because she herself was tired and wanted to rest. The mother charged with manslaughter and drug possession and arrested.

According to the American network CBS, the tragic incident occurred on June 26 when paramedics and police found the infant without a pulse at the home he lived in in the Callahan area. Despite superhuman efforts the baby ended up at the hospital.

Initially the 17-year-old he claimed that she had no idea what had happened but after repeated questioning by the police, she changed her story several times until she finally confessed that she was tired and wanted to sleep on the day the infant breathed his last. “At first the mother said she didn’t know what happened, that she put the baby to sleep and couldn’t wake him up,” the police spokesman said.

On Monday, investigators received a report from the medical examiner that fentanyl was found in the baby’s blood and the cause of death was determined as a fentanyl overdose as there was enough to kill 10 people.

As he told the police the minor mother he had filled a bottle with powdered milk and a substance that he thought it was cocaine but it turned out to be fentanyl.

There were others in the home at the time of the incident, but police believe it was solely her decisions that led to the baby’s death. Officials have not released the names of the mother or her child.

In fact, the officers handling the case reported that while the mother was being held in jail, she indicated that she may be pregnant again.
