The reason that the British singer, songwriter and actor David Bowie he was walking the streets with a… Greek newspaper in his hand, explained his friend, an award-winning writer and screenwriter William Boyd in an article in the Guardian in 2016.

“As I was arriving at a party at a hotel in Tribeca (New York) I saw Bowie get out of a yellow taxi, and pay the driver. Greeting him, and quite surprised to see him in this form of conveyance, I asked him if he had ever had any trouble driving about town. Not at all, he said. he happily used taxis and subways.

“I just carry one of those” said the music legend, and picked up a Greek newspaper.

“People think: “Surely this must be David Bowie?” Then they see the Greek paper – ‘no, he can’t, just a Greek who looks like him'” added Bowie!

It is noted that the singer (January 8, 1947 – January 10, 2016) was a leading figure in the world music industry. With sales which far exceed 100 million records, Bowie influenced dozens of artists and bands. Due to his rare voice and his interpretive capabilities, he is in the top twenty of the greatest artists of all time, in the relevant top 100 list of the authoritative Rolling Stone magazine.
