Placed last night in the Palataki area of ​​Haidari, the metal carrier of the new pedestrian bridge, which was built with funding from the Region of Attica, through the PEP Attica 2014-2020 and was auctioned and executed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
The new pedestrian bridge expected to be delivered for use in Septemberafter the necessary work and tests have been completed.
Present at the supervision of last night’s work were the Deputy Regional Governor of the Western Sector of Athens, Andreas Leotsakos and the mayor of Chaidari, Vangelis Ndiniakos.

The new pedestrian bridge contributes to the maximum extent to safe crossing of Athens Avenue, in the most central part of the city of Haidari, where many accidents involving pedestrians have occurred in the past. This is the fifth in a series that is being completed with funding from the Region of Attica, through the PEP Attica 2014-2020 with a total auction budget for all 5 bridges, 13 million euros.

It is recalled that the pedestrian bridge of Alimos, which is located on Poseidon Avenue in
its junction with Kalamakiou, the pedestrian bridge at the height of Palaio Faliros, on Poseidonos Avenue, the pedestrian bridge on Mesogeion Avenue in Ag. Friday, the pedestrian bridge on Athens Avenue in Chaidari and the pedestrian bridge on Poseidonos and Aphrodites Avenues in Paleo Faliro.

In statements by the Regional Governor of Attica, he points out, among other things: “We are enhancing the accessibility and safety of pedestrians, on one of the busiest streets, Athens Avenue. At this particular point, most pedestrian crossings are recorded, in one of the most central junctions of the basin. At the same time as ensuring the safe passage of pedestrians, the traffic of vehicles will also be significantly facilitated, as it is expected that more time will be given to the traffic lights to be green as the pedestrian crossing will be above ground.”
It is worth noting that this is the second pedestrian bridge to be installed
on Athens Avenue.
In the strategic planning of the Attica Region for road safety, new footbridges are included in places where there is an increased rate of danger, with the aim of better protecting citizens.
