THE National Opera offers 1,500 free places for the unemployed in the general rehearsal of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece opera Nabucco, on Tuesday 25 July 2023 at 21:00 at Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

For the eighth year – and after the forced interruption due to the pandemic – the National Opera offers the opportunity to our unemployed fellow citizens to attend free an impressive opera production at the Herodeum, aiming to make lyrical art accessible to all.

THE “Nabucco” considered one of Giuseppe Verdi’s greatest operas. On a personal level it highlighted Verdi as the most important Italian composer of the 19th century, while on a collective level it became a symbol of the struggle for Italian unification.

The opera is famous, among other things, for the famous Jewish slave chorus, which is a national anthem for Italians, as it expressed the collective feeling against the Austrian conqueror.

The production, which will be presented for four performances on July 26, 27, 29 and 30 in Herodeo, the internationally recognized Italian chief musician Paolo Carignani conducts, while the direction is signed by the distinguished Italian director Leo Muscato. Starring great Greek and foreign soloists with international acclaim.

The distribution of free tickets for the general trial of Nabucco will be with the presentation of unemployment card/certificate and identity card at the Funds of the National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (364 Syngrou Street, Kallithea/tel. center: 2130885700), on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 11.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

It is noted that each unemployment card/certificate holder can get up to two tickets.
