Kylie Minogue is set to go back in time for a new musical featuring the Stock Aitken Waterman songs that propelled her to chart success in the late 1980s.
The pop singer from Australia, who is enjoying summer success with the song Padam Padamwill “appear digitally” throughout the show’s tour, portraying “a specially created character in the musical.”
The direction and script of the musical “I Should Be So Lucky: The Stock Aitken Waterman” is signed by Debbie Isit, according to a report in “The Guardian” newspaper.

The show features 25 music and dance numbers created by the trio of producers and songwriters, Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman including the show’s title track which was released in 1987 and was Kylie Minogue’s first UK No.1 hit .
The musical, which the singer described as “exciting, funny and genuine”, also features songs recorded by Jason Donovan (Too Many Broken Hearts), Rick Astley (Never Gonna Give You Up) and Bananarama (Love in the First Degree). Its story revolves around a young couple, played by Lucy May Summers and Billy Roberts, who have plans to get married, but issues arise.
The musical, which will premiere at the Manchester Opera House on November 2, is choreographed by Jason Gilkison.
“We have been approached many times over the years to sanction a musical using the songs from the Stock Aitken Waterman catalog and have always resisted, until now,” said Mike Stock.
