Hemingway’s first contact with journalism and World War I

Hemingway played various sports while a student, and in addition to his literary honors, the author was also known for his amazing performances in American football and boxing. During his school years, however, he also had his first contact with journalism, which subsequently became one of his greatest loves.

In April 1918, Ernest Hemingway arrived at the Italian front, and the image of the brutality of the war that he witnessed, was deeply engraved in him. Every day, he came into contact with wounded soldiers, whom he transported to the medical center, while at the same time he was responsible for the collection of corpses from the front, events that marked him and his work.
