Jorge Aragão is discharged from hospital: ‘He has been responding well to treatment’

Singer Jorge Aragão, 74, was discharged from the hospital this Sunday afternoon (23). He had been hospitalized since Monday (17) after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system.

The confirmation was made by the sambista’s press office. “The artist is already at home, feeling well and receiving the support and affection of his family.

After the diagnosis, celebrities manifested themselves, wishing strength to Aragon. Music names, such as Péricles, Thiaguinho and Dudu Nobre, made posts on social networks with tributes to the sambista.

Data from Inca (National Cancer Institute) indicate that Brazil should close 2023 with 12,040 new cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma — 6,420 in men and 5,620 in women. The estimate is the same for 2024 and 2025.

According to Inca, this type of cancer comprises more than 50 different neoplasms originating from white blood cells (lymphocytes). Jorge Aragão’s advisory did not specify the singer’s cancer subtype.

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the eighth most common type of tumor, without considering non-melanoma skin, according to Inca.
