Paul Simon stated that he tried to practice with his band in hopes of returning to touring.

The legendary singer-songwriter announced that he will stop touring in 2018 and played his last concert in Queens, near the area where he grew up.

During the last concert, Paul Simon hinted that he would be “open” to appearing in individual concerts in the future, and he participated in the Newport Folk Festival last summer with a return to the stage – surprise.

In recent statements to Mojo he talked about how he tried to overcome the hearing loss that prevented him from returning to touring.

Discussing the possibility of new music, the singer said: “I have three songs coming. I have finished one of them.”

And this is literally a lifesaver because I haven’t figured out how to interpret with hearing loss,” he added. “I tried to rehearse with the guys in my band to see if I could make it. I can’t so far. This is at least an outlet for thinking musically” write down.

I love writing music, my voice is still strong and my band is a great group of gifted musicians. I think about music all the time. I am very grateful for the accomplished career and, of course, most of all to the audience who heard something in their music that touched their hearts».
