BBB 22: After texting Linn with a male pronoun, fans mobilize against transphobia

Since arriving at the BBB’s house on Thursday (20), Linn da Quebrada has been positioning herself as to her gender identity. The singer, who has the pronoun “she” tattooed on her forehead, introduced herself to the brothers as a transvestite, and explained that she wants to be called Lina, or Linn da Quebrada.

Despite this, the slips of the participants were not uncommon when referring to the artist. On the night of the same day, Rodrigo used a derogatory term to refer to a transvestite, and it was corrected by Vinicius and Maria.

The next day, he went to Lina to apologize, and said he didn’t know the word was pejorative.

This Saturday (22), the uncomfortable situation came from the anonymous text messages sent by the brothers at the time of the x-ray. Lina received two messages that referred to her in masculine, questioning her relationship status.

The texts, similarly, asked: “Are you single? Is someone asking here lol” and “Are you single? They are asking here lol”. In addition to the incorrect pronoun, the laugh at the end of the message suggests that it is a joke with the singer.

Faced with the event, netizens took a stand on social media, where prints of the torpedoes went viral in publications against transphobia.

No Twitter, a frase “Linn deserves it respect” is in 1st place among the topics of the moment, with more than 60 thousand tweets. Along with it, the positioning “Transphobia is a crime” has stood out, reaching the 3rd position until the publication of the article.

Among the tweets, fans ask the show’s management to identify the authors of the messages. Others suggest that Tadeu Schmidt talk to the participants about the subject.

The singer’s profile was also positioned: “Unfortunately, in a few hours we have already watched at least 5 episodes of transphobic violence. Not even the more than 50 cameras are able to inhibit systemic transphobia in Brazil”, says the publication.
