Rapper Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, also a rapper, after an argument in 2020. The singer, who has almost 12 million followers on Instagram alone, had already been found guilty by a jury in December of last year, but appealed the sentence. This Tuesday (8), the judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles, David Herriford, fixed the penalty.

Lanez was already held without bail since the jury’s conviction for assault with a semiautomatic weapon, possession of an unregistered loaded firearm in a vehicle, and grossly negligent firearm discharge in late 2022.

During the trial, Megan testified and identified the rapper as the author of the shots. She claimed to have seen the rapper with the gun and remembers him shooting towards her car. The rapper claimed that Lanez yelled “dance, bitch” before firing 10 shots at her feet. The singer also said that the professional colleague offered US$ 1 million so that she would not talk about what happened.

The rapper even asked for mercy before the judge handed down his sentence, requesting parole or a minimum prison sentence. “If I could go back through the events of that night and change them, I would,” he commented. Lanez continued, “The victim was my friend. Anything I did wrong that night, I take full responsibility.”

“We are extremely disappointed,” said Lanez’s lead attorney, Jose Baez. “I’ve seen vehicular homicide and other cases where there’s death, and the defendant still gets less than 10 years. He’s being punished for his celebrity status and someone being used to set an example. And he’s not an example. is a human being”, shot the defense of the singer, who intends to appeal the sentence.
