Elvis Presley fur coat sold by auction house Henry Aldridge & Son, in Devices, UK for $163,000 to an American collector.
The auction house’s estimated price for the mink fur and leather coat was $10,000 to $15,000.
The rock and roll icon wore the bespoke coat the year of his death in 1977. The garment was given to Mike Alden, brother of Elvis’ fiancee Ginger Alden and then given away to raffle organizers and won by a widowed mother of four in 2006.
In an article from the time, accompanied by a photo of herself in a mink coat, the winner, Mary Hill, said that Elvis’ music helped her survive difficult times when she lost her husband and had to raise her children alone.
