Actress Maitê Proença, 65, decided to use social networks to try to sell one of her apartments in Rio de Janeiro. “Hi, guys! Does anyone still read the classifieds in the newspaper? I don’t think so, right? So I’m going to launch the classifieds on Instagram”, she announces, on video, before describing the qualities of the property, for which she asks R$ 4, 9 million.
Maitê points out that the highlight of her apartment, “what is wonderful about it and different from others in the same building”, is the light. “It is absolutely clear, it is all lit up, from the rooms to the service area”. The property, measuring 300 square meters, is located in the Chopin Building, on Avenida Atlântica, one of the noblest in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, with Copacabana beach in front.
The building is adjacent to the Copacabana Palace, and the property for sale has high ceilings, a side view of the beach and is perched over the glamorous swimming pool of the century-old hotel. With lounge, dining room, pantry, spacious kitchen, two bedrooms, one suite and a parking space, whoever buys it will have to disburse R$ 2,831 per month for the condominium fee, plus R$ 1,300 for IPTU.
The apartment that Maitê advertises is not the only one she owns in the same building. She currently lives in another unit at Chopin, this one on the tenth floor and completely facing the sea. Socialite Narcisa Tamborindeguy and singer-songwriter Gilberto Gil also live at Chopin.
The sale takes place in the midst of a controversy between Maitê and the Justice of São Paulo. That’s because she sent a spreadsheet to Justice claiming the right to receive BRL 254,000 in pension for the months in which the benefit was not paid.
She received the amount of R$ 13,000 a month for being the daughter of public servant parents and for never having been married on paper. But the money stopped being credited to her in 2009. The reason was her 12-year relationship with businessman Paulo Marinho, with whom she had a daughter.
To suspend the payment of the pension, São Paulo Previdência (SPPrev) pointed to a text from Maitê’s biography as proof that she maintained a stable relationship with Marinho. In it, the actress claimed to have formed “a beautiful family with the businessman”. Maitê, by the way, lived with Marinho in this apartment that she advertises on Instagram today.
