Larissa Manoela, mother and boyfriend are subpoenaed to testify in investigation for religious racism

Larissa Manoela, her mother, pedagogue Silvana Taques, and her boyfriend, André Luiz Frambach, were summoned to give testimony in an inquiry that investigates whether Silvana committed religious racism in an exchange of messages with the actress.

The inquiry was opened last Tuesday (22nd) by the Rio de Janeiro Racial Crimes and Intolerance Crimes Office (Decradi). The confirmation sent to F5 says that those involved were summoned to give testimony and that the dates will only be informed after confirmation by the parties. The investigation is ongoing to establish the facts.

The complaint was made by the Commission to Combat Religious Intolerance of the State of Rio de Janeiro in conjunction with the Center for Coordination of Marginalized Populations (CEAP). “The configuration of this discriminatory act presents itself as contemporary forms of racism, which aims to preserve the integrity of personality rights, as the essential dignity of the human person”, says an excerpt from the document, signed by lawyers Carlos Nicodemos and Maria Fernanda Fernandes.

The message in question was sent by Silvana to Larissa on Christmas Eve 2022. “I forgot to wish you… that you have a great Christmas there with all the guides of this macumbeira family. kkkkkk”, wrote the pedagogue.

Punishment for crimes of religious intolerance provides for a penalty of up to 5 years, in a law that equates crimes of racial injury to racism and that also protects religious freedom.
