Sean ‘Love’ Combs (aka Diddy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy) to be honored with ‘Global Icon Award’ of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

The famous rapper and producer, who just hours ago made headlines for his decision to give away the copyrights of Bad Boy Records he founded in 1993 to the artists he has worked with, will also return to the MTV stage at the famous Prudential Center for a live performance on the evening of September 12, his first since 2005.

Combs, one of hip hop’s most successful and influential starswas chosen for the award because of his worldwide success in the music industry as well as his “unique career,” MTV’s press release states.

He is also nominated for four other awards at this year’s VMAs. Twice in the Best Collaboration category with ‘Gotta Move On’ – featuring Bryson Tiller, Ashanti and Yung Miami, and Metro Boomin’s ‘Creepin’ – featuring the Weeknd and 21 Savage. The rapper is also nominated for “Best Hip Hop” for “Gotta Move On” and “Best R&B” for “Creepin.”

At the same time, he is preparing to release his first personal album, since 2006, entitled “The Love Album: Off the Grid”. With the participation of, among others, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and Mary J. Blige (Mary J. Blige) is expected to be released on September 15.
