As part of the KSX clothing line, American artist and photographer, Kellie Swansondoes batik on jackets, jeans and other clothes with the rich blue of cyanotype (the printing technique accidentally invented by Sir John FW Herscel in 1847 in which the image is formed by a characteristic blue compound of iron under the influence of ultraviolet radiation).

The grainy texture complementing the weave, the boldly hued garments feature flora such as ferns and flowers found around Swanson’s Montana home.

All clothes are second hand and the artist draws most from vintage or thrift stores ensuring KSX takes a more sustainable approach to an industry notorious for its waste.
