Do you call Chiara Ferragni an influencer? Then how would you describe the Mona Lisa? Impressive are the findings of a new survey, which is published in the new book by the journalist, Kostas Laskaratou, “Museum INFLUENCERS”, according to which more than 6 out of 10 young Greeks accept the designation Î…influencer¨ for museum institutions and their exhibits.
Specifically, to the question: “Do you think that museums have the prestige and power to become true influencers?”, 61% of citizens answered positively, accepting the effectiveness of the institution in their lives. A negative answer, to the same question, was given by 34% of the sample, while a percentage of the order of 5% did not express a specific opinion on the issue.
Important are the findings in the individual questions, where it was sought in which areas citizens believe that museums exert more influence on people. In more detail, to the question: “In which of the following topics do you think a museum can influence the opinion of citizens?”, the research sample – having the possibility to give more than one answer – argued:

In issues related to climate change, at a rate of 28.7%
In matters concerning the healthat a rate 27.8%
In social integration of vulnerable citizensat a rate 26.9%

For the needs of the research, 507 online interviews were conducted, with nationwide coverage. The data collection took place in the period from April 27 to May 18, 2023, with the help of the political analyst, Maria Karaklioumi. The research focused on the 17-24 and 25-34 age groups and is part of the new book by the journalist and distinguished doctor of Panteios, Kostas Laskaratou “INFLUENCERS museums”.
The book examines the relationship of museums with digital influencers in the era of “smart” phones, but also the choices of modern inclusive museum operators, which make them true influencers. In particular, the social impact of museums and their influence on critical issues such as: racism, sexism and the position of women, the inclusion of the disabled, LGBTI+, the social integration of refugees, homeless, prisoners, health, the climate crisis, education, tourism, etc.. A book about museums that change the world through their own constant change.
The book, which is published by I. SIDERIS publications, will be presented for the first time at the 51st Book Festival, in the Areos Field, on Saturday September 16, at 19:00.
