The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou went today to the areas affected by the floods of Karditsa and Volos.

Mrs. Sakellaropoulou, accompanied by the mayor of Karditsa, Vassilis Tsiakos, first visited, in the presence of Metropolitan Timotheus, the Nursing Home of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaliotides and Fanariofersalon, and then the 1st Primary School, where flood victims are accommodated.

Then, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou was informed by the mayor Achillea Beoat the Volos City Hall, about the problems facing the city and the wider region.

The President of the Republic expressed her deep sorrow for those who lost their lives in the floods, as well as her support for the families of those missing and those affected. He said that at this time it is urgent to concentrate the forces of the State, so that everyone is safe, and the rapid healing of the wounds, so that Thessaly, its inhabitants, the productive bodies, the businesses, can recover their strength as soon as possible possible. Finally, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou expressed her gratitude to the officials of the state apparatus, to the volunteers and to those who are fighting, in these difficult times, for our fellow human beings.

This afternoon the President of the Republic will travel to Evros. Tomorrow, September 11, at 9 am, he will attend the consecration ceremony at the 1st Primary School of Soufli, on the occasion of the start of the school year.
