Out of television and artistic life since leaving Globo in June 2020, comedian and actor Renato Aragão, aged 87, will return to the stage. The eternal Didi Mocó will make a musical based on one of the group’s great classics.

The premiere is expected to take place in the first half of 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, but an exact date has not yet been defined.

The adaptation will be based on the film O Adorável Trapalhão, released in 1967 and one of the first produced under the brand of the program Os Trapalhões, which would be a great success on Brazilian TV from the 1970s onwards. Renato Aragão’s wife, Lilian Taranto confirmed the information to F5.

In a live on Instagram, held this Sunday (10), Renato and Lilian stated that the location of the in-person tests has not yet been defined, but that this should occur throughout the week. They are open to actors, actresses and singers from all over Brazil, without restrictions. An Instagram account for the piece has already been created.

O Adorável Trapalhão tells the story of Epitácio, an employee of a music manager, who lost his wife and lives with his three children. Worried about his boss’s happiness, Epitácio tries to find him a wife. The suitor is Lúcia, the teacher of her businessman’s children.

The film was inspired by The Sound of Music (1965), which was parodied by Renato Aragão years later, in 1997, as The Sound of Music, his first solo film without the troupe that marked the era.

Recently, Renato Aragão made news for being upset with Globo. He felt forgotten for not being invited to this year’s edition of Criança Esperança. Days later, he appeared on Record together with Dedé Santana to be honored for his career.
