This Thursday morning (14), actress Cissa Guimarães celebrated the arrest of the two convicted of the death of her son Rafael Mascarenhas. After 13 years, the artist expressed her relief and gratitude for the outcome of the case that distressed her so much, in an interview with Globo, which was replicated on social media.

“I feel relieved because justice was done. Only God knows what I went through in those 13 years afraid that impunity would prevail. It did not prevail. This victory is not just mine or my family’s, but for all of us, the Brazilian society, against impunity”, she declared.

“Now, finally, I feel at peace. I come out stronger from this process that caused me the greatest pain in the world. Hail Rafael, save Rafael and save the justice that was done. Thank you all very much”, he added.

On Wednesday night (13), Roberto and Rafael Bussamra handed themselves over to the authorities at the Criminal Execution Court after a court decision called for their return to prison. Rafael will serve his sentence for running over Mascarenhas in an area that was closed to cars, while his father, Roberto, was convicted of corrupting military police officers present at the scene of the incident.

Rafael, initially sentenced to 12 years and nine months, will serve three years and six months for manslaughter without intent to kill. In turn, his father, initially sentenced to eight years and 11 months, will serve three years and 10 months for corruption, with a semi-open compliance regime determined by the courts.

The accident occurred in 2010 in the Acoustic Tunnel, in Gávea, South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, in an area closed to vehicle traffic. Mascarenhas, who was skateboarding there, was run over.
