The actor celebrated 40 years of American citizenship by uploading a collection of photos on Instagram from his “journey” as a young boy in Austria to becoming an American citizen.

The actor’s post included photos of his life before and after he arrived in America, including shots of him taking the oath of American citizenship in 1983, wearing an American flag shirt and an Uncle Sam hat, holding two American flags to pose in front of the iconic Hollywood sign.

He audio-accompanyed the photo with a speech he delivered at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York.

“My fellow Americans, this is an amazing moment for me. To think that a once scrawny boy from Austria could grow up to be governor of the state of California, that’s an immigrant’s dream,” Schwarzenegger said in the video.
