Widow of Paulinho do Roupa Nova says that children thought about inheritance in cremation

Widow of Paulinho, singer of Roupa Nova who died in 2020 from complications from Covid-19, Elaine Soares says that she is currently in need even though she receives help from the group.

In an interview with Domingo Espetacular (Record) that should air this Sunday (30), she opens up about how her life has been after just over a year of losing her husband.

“They [integrantes do grupo] help me in any way they can, but it is not enough to cover all my expenses”, he reveals.

At another point in the interview, Elaine says that Paulinho’s children would have left her out of the inheritance inventory. “The day their father was being cremated, they were already going to court with the inventory and I didn’t know,” she says.

“They left me out of everything, I wasn’t the one who fought over inheritance. So I set up a lawyer to enter the inventory, since I wasn’t in the inventory”, he added.

In contact with UOL, Pepê Santos, one of Paulinho’s children, rebutted Elaine’s statements. “No person has the power to bar or remove any name from an inventory, even if he is a legitimate heir. That is up to the Justice. Therefore, it would be impossible for us to have done such a thing,” he said.

This fight started months after the death. In January 2021, Elaine filed a lawsuit against the singer’s children over his inheritance.

According to the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, Elaine is suing Twigg de Souza Santos and Pedro Paulo Castor dos Santos, sons of the musician, to request recognition of a stable union with Paulinho and, consequently, to be part of the inheritance. She claims not to have been included in the inventory.

Paulinho’s son, Pedro Paulo, filed a lawsuit with the 7th Court of Successions and Orphans of the TJRJ, on December 16, 2020, to enter the inventory of the artist’s assets. In the process he also enabled his sister, Twigg Souza Santos.

On January 11, 2021, Elaine filed a petition, in the same process, requesting her qualification in the inventory. When contacted, the psychologist did not respond to requests or answer phone calls. However, to Quem magazine, she said that her children want her to become a “beggar”.
