It won’t be easy to get rid of it, but Narjara Turetta is determined: she will sell the cart she used to sell coconut water on the streets of Copacabana, in the south zone of Rio, between the 1990s and early 2000s. He helped her pay her bills when she was unemployed, she had been out of work for six years and now the time has come to say goodbye to him.
“I wanted to keep it even out of gratitude, but there’s no way. I don’t have any more space and it’s deteriorating over time, with lack of use”, says the actress, one of the guests at the Empoderadas Awards, for women who fight against inequality, held at Copacabana Palace.
The cart will be auctioned and with the money raised, she intends to put together an autobiographical monologue. Narjara says that the idea came from her friend Gloria Pires. “I completed a 52-year career with ups and downs and the public has the right to know details of my career”, explains the actress, who didn’t take long to accept the project of playing Irene in Globo’s “Terra e Paixão”, and He asked a friend (writer Luiz de Abreu) for help with the text.
“I have the script ready and the scenography already thought out, but now comes the complicated part: raising funds for the editing”, says the actress, who has been working as a voice actor for four years. “I was called once and others started painting. Of course I would like to go back to acting, but I’m not called. That’s fine. The important thing is to work and that’s what I’ve been doing,” she says.
Narjara gained prominence in the series “Malu Mulher” (1979), in which she played the daughter of the protagonist, played by Regina Duarte, with whom she still maintains contact. “I really like Regina and we talk about everything, except politics”, she comments. “I’m very sad to see her so massacred for her opinion, her political choice. Is this country democratic or not? I think respect for this actress’ story in television drama would be the least,” she concludes.
