Tom Hanks warns fans about video featuring his computer-generated face: ‘I have nothing to do with it’

Veteran Tom Hanks was the target of an unusual video generated by artificial intelligence. With content that is very different from what he is known for, the 67-year-old artist took to Instagram to clarify to people that talking about dental insurance is not his thing.

“Be careful! There’s a video going around promoting some dental plan with an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it,” he wrote.

The advancement of computer-based technologies is a cause for concern in Hollywood and was one of the reasons for the strike. Actors worry about being replaced.

The actor has already spoken about the use of artificial intelligence in the arts and stated that there are ongoing discussions about moving forward.

“It’s just gotten bigger and bigger since then. There are conversations in every agency and every law firm to figure out the legal ramifications of my face and my voice,” he said while appearing on Adam Buxton’s podcast in April.

Now, he will have his face digitally rejuvenated for a production that should be called “Here”. According to Vanity Fair magazine, new technology will produce hyperrealistic effects so that Hanks appears younger.
