• Near the Rays, by Alki Zei in the Children’s Stage of the Alpha Theater – Linaios-Fotiou

An exciting theatrical journey to the far North, guided by the… “reckless” dreams made by children and those who feel like children for a more just world, begins on the children’s stage of the Alpha – Linaios-Fotiou theater from Saturday, October 7, presenting the play ” Near the Rays” on the occasion of the Literary Year of Alkis Zeis. The play is staged for the first time, adapted and directed by Giorgos Tzavaras. Ten-year-old Sasha looks out of her window every day at the tracks that “lead” to a new life. Kukutsi, as her father calls her, is looking for answers to thousands of questions that pop up like mushrooms in her head every now and then. Growing up in Tsarist pre-revolutionary Russia, Sasha wants to stand up to injustice and learn what it means to be a true hero. She watches what is happening around her and waits with longing and excitement, which only children can have, for the great change that knocks on her door.

In this adaptation for her children “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, with live music, Mr. Jones, the owner of the farm, loves power, but most of all he loves money! With the promise that the animals will become famous and everyone will admire them, he tricks them and convinces them to sing and perform dance and risky numbers. When the animals realize the truth, they rebel and drive their master away. But what will they do when they can’t all agree with each other? Arrangement: Michalis Koilakos – Panos Christodoulou.   • A Child Counts the Stars, by Menelaus Ludemi at the New Theater Katerina Vasilakou

The beloved autobiographical novel is transferred to the stage, in a theatrical adaptation by Sissys Alata and directed by Anastasi Deligianni. The play presents in relief the desire of a poor child, Melios, to learn letters as well as his attempt to achieve his goal despite adverse social conditions. The foundations of human rights, such as acceptance of diversity, freedom of opinion, children’s right to equal opportunity in education, are some of the messages of the project.   • The Carnival of the Animals, by Camille Saint-Saëns at the “Hellenic World” Cultural Center

Performance

After the huge success of the summer tour, “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saëns will be staged in October at the “Theatron” of the “Hellenic World” Cultural Center. The work is presented with texts by Giorgos Galitis and orchestration by Alexandros Gonis, transliterated for piano, violin, flute, cello, metallophone and percussion. It is a theatrical approach to the musical work, with songs based on the composer’s classic melodies, choreography, interactive play and shadow theater. A wonderful way to introduce children, with humor and suspense, to the music of Camille Saint-Saëns and to familiarize themselves with musical instruments of a classical orchestra. *Starring: Artemis Matafia, Lydia Sgouraki, Christina Bitou, Arianna Zarmakoupi.
