Alexandra Marzo, 55, decided to break the silence and open her heart about the complex relationship she has with her mother, the renowned actress Betty Faria, 82. The trigger for this public outburst was Betty’s presence at the Rio Festival, accompanied by Giulia Butler, daughter of Alexandra and granddaughter of the actress. In a post on her Instagram, the actress shared her difficult experiences since her youth, revealing a history of deep family conflicts.
“I have long been silent in the face of the injustices and slanders uttered by my mother to the courts and the press. Since 2012, I have faced indescribable suffering of monstrous dimensions. I was born into a toxic, highly dysfunctional family, with a mother who could be characterized as a sociopath”, he said in an initial section of the post.
Furthermore, Alexandra accused her mother of using her granddaughter for her own ends. “My daughter was and continues to be used by my mother whenever it suits her, as is typical of people who have narcissistic/sociopathic spectrum disorder. There is no place for love in these people, only greed, competition, envy and a lot of anger”, she wrote.
“All my life, I believed that my mother was emotionally immature and had her own problems. I kept this secret and tried to protect her, often from herself. However, today, I finally understand what was happening.”
She further described the nature of narcissists, stating that although they are internally like children, they are children who do not love. “They have an emotional maturity similar to that of a child of approximately 5 years. They cannot overcome the trauma of abandonment in their childhood and, therefore, abandon love, opting for power. They live by acting out, studying the psyche of others to manipulate them and imprison them, undermining their self-esteem”, he continued.
Alexandra also alleged that Betty Faria had offered her granddaughter alcohol when she was still underage. “What I heard on the other end of the phone line was silence and the call ending abruptly,” she reported.
“Narcissists don’t talk, they just talk. Fifteen days later, I received a call from a lawyer informing me that she was being cited in a lawsuit for allegedly preventing her grandmother from seeing her granddaughter. Distortion of reality, falsehoods, bribed lawyers. I experienced a real nightmare that has dragged on for more than a decade. Enough!”, he concluded his outburst.
Betty Faria was contacted by F5 and did not return until the publication of this report.
