Maria Paula Giacomelli
She is controversial. Every day, her name is mentioned thousands of times on social media — and the comments are not always complimentary. The fact is that, whether due to the controversies in which she is involved or her pompous lifestyle, Virginia Fonseca accumulates more than 44 million followers on Instagram alone.
As soon as you join the video call for an interview with the F5, she already dances out of her chair and shows off the orange bikini set she is wearing. The piece is from a partnership with the Chinese Shein, with whom she launches a collection that hits the platform this Monday (9) — the brand explains that it chose her because she defies stereotypes by being a mother, young woman and influencer.
I then ask Virginia if there is any other label that the public has about her that she wanted to break. “Sometimes, people have the idea that I show off a lot, and I believe that’s not true. I wear what I like. If I like it, I go there and buy it, it doesn’t matter the price, it doesn’t matter at all. I wear what It makes me feel good,” he says.
After she presented her husband, singer Zé Felipe, with a plane valued at R$35 million, perhaps some people have difficulty imagining her consuming fast fashion (a production pattern in which clothes are not exorbitantly priced, but also do not last very). To make things easier, the influencer is the one who poses for the photos in the collection’s promotional campaign.
She says that the clothes and models will be inclusive and for all bodies. Size options range from XP (XP) to 4XL (G4) including tops, skirts, pants, dresses and jumpsuits, in different colors and cuts. In addition, there will be 10 pieces for the plus size public. According to her, it was the team that suggested this addition. “They came to that conclusion and I agreed. I thought it was really worth having.”
Virginia says that, soon, she intends to fit into this size (“I want to be pregnant soon, thank God”, she comments immediately afterwards, joining her hands to the sky). She is already the mother of Maria Alice, 2 years old, and Maria Flor, who turns 1 this month.
Sincerona, even in an interview to promote her collection with an online retailer, she says that she might get a little confused when ordering the pieces. “I have a serious problem with consuming on the internet, I asked my friends to buy it. I say: ‘You bought it, but can you give it to me? I’ll buy it from you’. I always buy the wrong size.”
Recently, the owner of the cosmetics brand Wepink said that she developed alopecia (hair loss) as a result of the criticism she received for the supposed low quality of a foundation that was part of her makeup line — and the memes that emerged afterwards. Now, she claims to be more calibrated to haters’ comments and prepared for possible criticism regarding her clothes.
“Before, I felt really bad, but now I understand that it’s more about people than about me,” he says. “There’s no way to please everyone, it’s impossible. What I’m going to do to please one person won’t please another. I’m well prepared, there will be 100 pieces, one has to please, it’s not possible (laughs).”
WHAT’S NEXT
Cited by 15% of those interviewed by Datafolha as the biggest influencer in the country, Virginia says that, next year, the public will be able to follow her on television (or on another digital platform).
The businesswoman confirms that she accepted a proposal she received, but does not give further details because it is still in the negotiation phase. “God willing, it will come. I can’t talk. I’m already having meetings and it will happen”, she says.
Before closing, she also comments on her relationship with the press, with which she also had her share of controversies. Used to speaking directly to the public, without intermediaries, she is often considered difficult to interview. More recently, she was also accused of ignoring journalists at Wepink’s second anniversary party.
“I expose my life 24 hours a day. I am always 100% sincere and transparent in any way”, says the influencer. “I’m Virginia to everyone, very open, you know? I am what I am.”
