Today, the founder and CEO of the company “Klutch Sports Group” is known as one of the most powerful sports agents in the world, LeBron James’ right-hand man and Adele’s partner.

“I am happy in all aspects of my life,” states Paul in the American magazine People ahead of the release of ‘Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds’, which is out today, October 10, from Roc 101.

But when he was growing up in a crime-ridden neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio, in the 1980s and 1990s, his chances of success in life were slim to none. In his memoirs, Paul describes the deep trauma it left him having a mother who struggled with drug addiction; and sometimes he did not return home for days.

“I had built a wall as a little boy”, she says, “so that I can move forward knowing that she won’t be there when mom didn’t come home.” This reality, he adds, “was one of the hardest things for me to relive and write about.”

Describing his difficult childhood, Paul says: “The thing is, I was never really a kid.”

This feeling, and his deep childhood traumas were the ones that were most accepted by his partner Adele. “It was very touching,” he says of his partner’s attitude towards what he writes in his book. “I think a lot of it probably had an impact on our lives, so yeah, it was a tough read [για εκείνη]».

Adele has previously spoken about her own childhood. Growing up between Tottenham and Brixton, London, she experienced the loss of her beloved grandfather, who died of cancer when she was just 10 years old. Also her father, Mark Evans, disappeared from her life for years, only to reappear when her career took off in her 20s.

When you read the book, you can understand how many obstacles I had to overcome. Hence its title. I was lucky enough to be able to continue on a dark path, but the crack in the door let in some light and I was smart enough not to fall into the traps that were there every day,” says Paul.
