Actor Will Smith, 55, decided to comment on the recent statements made by actress Jada Pinkett, 52, his ex-wife and from whom he has been separated since 2016.
In an email sent to the New York Times, reported by the New York Post, the artist said that her book, which will be released this Tuesday (17), “kind of woke me up” and that reading the work made him perceive Jada as “more resilient, smart and compassionate than before.”
Regarding the end of the marriage, he gave his position. “When you’ve been with someone for more than half your life, a kind of emotional blindness sets in and you can easily lose sensitivity to hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” he said. Smith and Jada were together for 25 years.
In a recent interview with Today, the actress made some revelations about her daily life with Will Smith.
“We’ve been doing some really hard work together. We’ve just felt a deep love for each other and we’re going to figure out what that looks like for us,” she said. Since 2016, they both decided to move away, but divorce was always ruled out.
“By the time we got to 2016, we were exhausted from trying. I think we were both still stuck in the fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
According to the actress to People, people had no idea what the relationship was like at the time, and she suggested that they could both be with new people.
