Britney Spears says she had a painful abortion at home, without a doctor and in secret

Another piece of news about Britney Spears’ past was revealed in her autobiography The Woman in Me. American magazines had access to the material, which will only be released on October 24, and reported that the singer described the “painful” experience she had when performing an abortion more than 20 years ago, when she was dating Justin Timberlake.

According to the website TMZ, the singer wrote that the procedure was done at home, so that the information would not become public. “It was important that no one found out about the pregnancy or miscarriage, which meant doing everything at home,” she wrote. She says the procedure was “agonizing” and that medication caused her intense physical pain.

Britney reportedly had the abortion while lying on the bathroom floor while her boyfriend played the guitar. “I kept crying and sobbing until it was all over. It took hours, and I don’t remember how it ended, but I remember, twenty years later, the pain and the fear,” she wrote.

The American singers began their relationship in 1999, when Britney was 17 and Justin was 18. As she also wrote in the book, the abortion only happened because of the singer: “Justin was definitely not happy with the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were too young.”
