Murilo Benício talks about his reputation for always falling in love with co-workers: ‘It’s normal’

by

Before starting a relationship with journalist Cecília Malan, with whom he is currently with, Murilo Benício had the reputation of always falling in love with the actresses he was working with. It was like this with Giovanna Antonelli (“O Clone”), Carolina Ferraz (“Por Amor”) and Débora Falabella (“Avenida Brasil”), among others.

Because the actor and director has a theory on the subject and spoke about it this week on the program Provoca, presented by Marcelo Tas on TV Cultura (check out the full text below). “I’m a very homely guy and where do I meet people? At work,” he said. “It won’t be in the nightclub, in the bar…I’m not anywhere.”

“It’s more than normal that, when you’re unhappy or ending a marriage, you meet someone working,” said Antonio’s father, from his relationship with Alessandra Negrini, and Pietro, together with Antonelli.

Furthermore, he says, there is the fact that he always works with very interesting women. “We work in a fascinating environment, where you invariably meet fascinating people,” he comments. “So you have to be very well at home to not be enchanted.”

“When you start looking outside, it’s a sign that the marriage is really bad, that you’ve already tried a lot of things,” he continues. “Marriage, you know, ends after it ends. But all these relationships of mine were real until the last minute.”

Regarding his relationship with Cecília Malan, who is a Globo correspondent in London, he says that everything was very intense. “Do you know how old a dog is? It’s 4 years old, but it’s actually 12”, he compares. “We joke about it, we say we’ve been together for two years and we’ve known each other for three months.”

The main challenge is, of course, the fact that they live with an ocean between them. “The distance is difficult, it makes me miss a lot,” he says. “At the same time, imagine, you miss each other all the time. Whenever we meet, we go traveling, we go to do good things, we go to the theater, we go to shows, we go to places we want to see.”

“The distance is difficult, but it is compensated by a certain ceremony”, he assesses. “It’s still not normal for us to meet.”
