The year Robin Williams starred in Steven Spielberg’s Hook, he bought a Renaissance mansion in the upscale Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco, California, for $3.2 million.

Now, the estate of the late actor/comedian and his then-wife, Marsha Garces, going under the hammer for $25 million.

It is one of the largest residences in the area – with 20 rooms, seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms – built by architect Earle B. Bertz in 1926;

Inside, there is a mix of classic and contemporary aesthetic elements with original wood and glass details, high ceilings, marble columns, vaulted arches and wooden floors.

It features a period-style bar hidden behind a wood-paneled wall, a cinema room with a roll-out projector and hidden passages connecting the children’s bedrooms.

The mansion is built in a special place where the unbelievable view it stretches from the Pacific Ocean to San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands.

The couple tied the knot in 1989 and divorced two decades later. Then the residence passed into the possession of Garces. Before the divorce they had completely renovated the mansion.

“It’s a beautiful, happy home,” the ex-wife and producer told the Wall Street Journal. “There we spent many fantastic years of joy, fun and happiness.”

“They extended the mansion to the current 930 square meters on three levels. However, they went to great lengths to preserve the rare and valuable building materials used in 1926, which are simply no longer available in modern home construction,” said Compass Realtor Steven Mavromichalis.
