The driver involved in the run-over of actor Kayky Brito in September, Diones Coelho took to social media to say that he has been in frequent contact with Bruno de Luca, presenter and friend of Brito who is now indicted for failing to provide assistance.
“He reached out to me on Instagram asking for my number. And in that call he thanked me a lot for the support I provided to his friend. I was just an instrument and acted as a citizen,” said Coelho.
According to the driver, Luca would not be well. “He told me that he was feeling really bad psychologically, afraid of going out, afraid of people and with all the hate distilled on the internet,” he said.
In October, the 9th Special Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro accepted the Public Ministry’s complaint and opened proceedings against presenter Bruno de Luca for failing to provide assistance to actor Kayky Brito in the accident that occurred in the Barra da Tijuca region.
At the time, his lawyer spoke. According to Rodrigo Brocchi, “Bruno de Luca did not commit the crime of omitting assistance.” In response to the report’s request, he stated that there was no possibility of this type of crime if anyone who was close to the accident provided assistance to the victim.
“Bruno was not the cause of the accident, he has a specific obligation to provide assistance, as in fact he did, nor does he perform any function that brings him the legal obligation to provide assistance”, he said. “If that were the case, everyone present who was not the person to call the firefighters would have failed to provide assistance,” he added.
