Selena Gomez may have made history as the woman with the most followers on Instagram, but on Thursday, November 2, 2023, she publicly threatened to shut down the Meta-owned social media platform, because of the Israel-Hamas war.

The 31-year-old pop star posted and then promptly deleted an Instastory that read: “I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I am done. I don’t support any of what’s going on».

The famous singer had first announced her “break from social media” on Monday “because my heart breaks to see all the horror, hatred, violence and terror that is happening in the world,” she wrote.

Torturing and killing people or any act of hatred towards any group is horribleSelena Gomez wrote in her post.

He added: “We must protect all people, especially children, and stop the violence once and for all. I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt. This is what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But one post won’t do“, he added.

The singer has turned off comments on her last two Instagram posts, but her World Mental Health Day post from Oct. 4 is filled with embarrassing comments from pro-Palestine activists.
