The film series is based on Susan Collins’ best-selling dystopian books, set in a post-apocalyptic America and said to be inspired by a combination of Greek myth and modern reality TV shows, as well as the author’s own childhood, which she is the daughter of a US Air Force officer who served in Vietnam.
